By the end of the First World War more than 60 hospital units had been established in Devon; between them they treated over 40,000 patients, thanks to their largely volunteer staff.

This display looks at the ways in which wounded and recovering soldiers were cared for in:

  • Budleigh Salterton
  • Chagford
  • Dawlish
  • Kingsbridge
  • Seale Hayne
  • Sidmouth
  • Totnes

This exhibition was on loan from the South West Heritage Trust for 2020 and 2021 but  is now closed.
